Trusting...

'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus"
Louisa M. R. Stead

'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His word;
Just to rest up on His promise;
Just to know "Thus saith the Lord."

Jesus, Jesus how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
Just in simple faith to plunge me,
Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Jesus, Jesus how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

Yes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest and joy and peace.

Jesus, Jesus how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

I'm so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.

Jesus, Jesus how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

With toddlers and babies in the house these days, I have been learning a lot about trust and how complicated we make it, as we grow older. My little ones never wonder if they will have food, clean diapers, and lots of love. Though they may not get what they ask or cry for, and may throw a "fit" about it, they seem to never question our love or care for them.
We have several uncertainties in our lives right now. This past week we found out that my sweet mother has cancer. We learned today that the cancer that they thought to be breast cancer is not the primary cancer, and tests will be given tomorrow in order to see if they can successfully find the source of the cancer. This doesn't limit God, however, and we are trusting in His perfect plan. I think one of the benefits of getting "older" is that I have seen God "proved" over and over. I know that "God is God and we are not", as Steven Curtis Chapman says.
My prayer is: "O, for grace to trust Him more"!

So sorry to hear about your mother. My own mother was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2004, and it had spread to her lymph nodes. It was a scary time for us, but the Lord brought her through it. She is doing well today... Praise the Lord! Keep trusting in Him.

Julie
my heart goes out to you and your mom...I have been where you are right now and it is a scary journey. But there will be many miracles along the way...keep your eyes open for them. Our God is the best Father and he will always give you strength...I know you have proved that many times over years. It is a very testing time and you must keep each other encouraged in the Lord...My prayers are with you...your best asset right now is that you and your family trust in the God who created the universe! love and big hugs to you and yours!!! We at Friendship, where your sweet Aunt Jacki is pastor's wife, are praying for your mom. I pray that you feel His loving arms around you during this most difficult time. You have a beautiful family, whom I know I will enjoy learning more about through your neat blog.
